The Vance County Board of Education has updated its previous action regarding the leadership of Vance County Schools by appointing Dr. Destiney Ross-Putney as Superintendent, effective August 1, 2026. Dr. Ross-Putney was previously announced as Interim Superintendent beginning August 1, following the retirement of Superintendent Dr. Cindy Bennett on July 31, 2026. Dr. Ross-Putney currently serves as the district's Chief Officer of Instruction and Innovation.

On Friday, June 5, Vance County Schools proudly celebrated the graduating Class of 2026 from AdVance Academy and Vance Virtual Village Academy (V3A). Held at the Wayne Adcock Auditorium inside The Center for Innovation, the ceremonies honored a total of 42 graduates for their achievements, perseverance, and dedication to reaching this important milestone.

Vance County Schools honored outstanding educators and school leaders during its annual Educators of Excellence Celebration on Tuesday, June 2, at the Henderson Country Club.

The event recognized each school’s Teacher of the Year and Beginning Teacher of the Year, while also celebrating nominees for Principal of the Year and Assistant Principal of the Year. These educators and administrators exemplify dedication, innovation, and excellence in serving students across the district.
